Week 7 Reflection

This week for homework I worked on conversions like metres to hectares and kilograms into tonnes. Heres are some of my results from Maths buddy.
Also in class I've been learning naming angles. This is my DLO about it...

For writing we have been doing a poetry anthology. This week we did colour poems and mine is the colour red. Here is my writing...
Red

Red looks like Fresh strawberries sleeping on a bed of soil
Red smells like crisp toffee apples ready to be devoured
Red sounds like a crackling fire slowly burning away after a hard night's work
Red tastes like juicy raspberries fresh from the garden
Red feels like a bleeding scar running down your leg

Week 6 Reflection

This week we explored different publishing websites. I created a pic collage of our camp in curious cove this year. If you want to have a go here's a link to the website Fotor.com

Also we learnt about bartering and the different tribes in New Zealand before money was around. People used to trade things like trade clothes, nails and equipment for fresh food and green stone. When the whalers came to New Zealand they started trading blankets, guns and more modern equipment. Now we have money so bartering is no long needed.

Week 5 relfection

For writing this week we did a poem based off Rodger McGoughs poem The Midnight Skaters. Here is a link to the poem we based it on The midnight skaters. For this poem we focused on the use of personification which is giving an object a human quality. This is what I came up with...

The moon was shining bright
It was starting to get late
The wind was whistling quietly
There was no sound, But wait

A break of silence occurred
They all came out in a heap
The toaster popped,nothing stopped
While every person lays sound asleep

Then suddenly some cutting knives
Started jumping up to fight
As forks watched the action
The spoons flickered the light

Spatulas swam in the sink
While plates piled one by one
Oh what fun they were having
But wait, they’re on the run

The forks jumped in
Ready to be washed
The plates were like Frisbee
In the cupboard they squashed

They hear footsteps of children running down the stairs
It alerted them of the presents of people everywhere
As parents laugh and talk it couldn't help to wonder

Why the spatulas lie and wait with a little tear

Earlier this year we went on a camp to Curious Cove which is near Picton. Our art was based on an activity or scene from camp. Mine is a gurnard in the sea because I was lucky enough to catch one !

We did more Chinese this week. We worked on writing different characters, here are some we practised...
